yeah, i completely hear you on that - seems that the rating needs to be anchored to the individual and in turn, all of his/her contributions as being of "some average level of quality" - that way a user might pull up an orgchart and then click to filter (for example) to see/highlight specific entries (current or past version) from trusted contributors..

e.g. i pull up company X version 21 and i'm logged in and so choose to view a little column to the right of each name to the effect of "last changed by: userx" and from here i might choose, "show only edits/changes/additions etc from UserY" and in doing so i see a slew of names, only now i'm seeing a column that shows the version number - so a vp under the ceo in version 21 might be changed because the last time it appeared from UserY was in version 19, so it has that name (because i'm only seeing that userY set of data) and says "from version: X" - so it's like comparing versions but instead of comparing by number alone, i'm comparing by number and/or filter specific to a user/users...does that make sense?

Dave, we have thought about that submitter ratings a lot, but the hurdle is this: If you have a 5 star map and someone edits something, what happens to the rating? Are scores associated with maps or versions. If versions, that is tough because organizations are changing all the time (kind of the point of the wiki) and you don't want to lose a lot of votes just because it was updated to reflect someone coming or going.

This is a tricky one!

feature request: submitter ratings/feedback ebay style - you have a few folks who are doing a great job cleaning up the information, and it would be very cool to reward them with visible cred and scoring so that when users (like me) are comparing versions i can quickly assign a weight/score to a credible submission...

just a thought...

oh, and i'd like the ability to build my own org charts privately and sell access to them via your site - if you ever think of offering this feature please let me know right away!

...and also, i'm doing a new column for CI Magazine on getting to sources (did one back in '05) - i'd like to include cogmap in this, so could one of you please ping me directly to catch up? my email is dcarpe (at) gmail
